Peter Idris Taylor
Peter Idris has been pastor at Bethel Baptist Church since August 2011. He has spent over 30 years in ministry, most recently in Brackley, Northamptonshire.
Peter Idris trained for Christian Ministry at the South Wales Baptist College, Cardiff and studied Theology and Applied Theology at Cardiff, Chicago and King’s College, London.
He previously served churches at Swansea and Brackley and in-between he was a Youth Officer for the Baptist Union of Great Britain based at Pontyclun. He was a member of Bethel from 1984 to 1992.
He served on the sub-executive Council of the International Baptist Convention for seven years and in 2009 was elected as the IBC President.
He is married to Ruth, who was a teacher at Llansannor and Dinas Powys and is an accomplished piano tutor and accompanist. She is now an administrator for a Training Centre in Cardiff. They have a son Joe, who lives and works in Guildford and daughter Esther, a student in Gloucester.
Matt has been Youth Pastor at Bethel for three years. He spends his time with the youth aged 11 to 18 from within the church and in the local community. Matt is creative in his approach and aims to be relevant in everything the church provides for the teenagers of Pontyclun. His enthusiasm and excitement is contagious!
Matt has pioneered several ministries in Bethel, including Cafe Agape on Friday nights which sees around 100 youth in the building.
He spent two and a half years training as a youth worker with Youth for Christ, and is currently studying Theology with Spurgeon's College.
Matt is married to Sarah, a treasury middle office manager at Principality Building Society and worship leader in Bethel. They have a gorgeous baby boy Ethan.
Centre Manager and Church Administrator
Owen is centre manager and church administrator. He is married to Lindsay and they have five children. Jonathan and Naomi are both married, while Nerys, David and Darren still live at home.
